Game Summary

We imagine most of our players are familiar with the tale of Medusa from Greek legend, but just in case you’re not, she’s not a woman that you’d ever want to meet. She has snakes for hair, and if you make eye contact with her, she’ll turn you to stone. We imagine that makes dating extremely difficult for her. She’s one of the most iconic creations of Greek myth - right up there with Zeus himself - and so she’s entirely deserving of having her own themed Mobile Slots game. Zeus has plenty of them already, so it’s time she got some recognition!

As is usually the case with any Megaways slot, there are thousands of ways to win in Medusa Megaways. Having six reels helps a lot with opening up space, but the number of rows per reel will change from one spin to the next, and will even vary between different rows on the same spin. Symbols will become larger and smaller, and so where you might have four rows on one spin, you might have up to six next time around. Even with such a massive layout, this slot finds the space to set the mood for us with a gloomy, post-apocalyptic backdrop of Ancient Greece. The sky and land is a burnt red, with temples and structures smashed to pieces, and rubble across the floor. In a nutshell, it’s a ruin. The one temple still standing is the one which is housing the reels.

Upon those reels, the old and familiar playing cards symbols 10 to A make up the low values, although we’ll give NextGen partial credit for at least dressing them to fit the theme. Medusa - looking far more attractive than she usually does in the legends - serves as the slot’s wild. She can replace everything other than the scatter to make winning combinations. The Medusa Megaways logo is the scatter, and has a hand in the complicated bonus features.

Bonus Features

There are no less than four features you could consider to be a bonus in Medusa Megaways, so let’s go one at a time!

The first is a humble Gamble Feature, which you’ll likely have seen in many other UK Mobile Slots, and is a simple chance to improve on your last win. If you decide to take the gamble, then you’ll be asked to predict the color of the next card drawn from a pack, and you’ll double your winnings if you’re right. Obviously, you’ll lose them if you’re wrong. Confident players can try picking the suit of the card instead of the color if they wish, and so will quadruple their winnings with a correct choice.

Collapsing Wins are in action in Medusa Megaways, as they are in the majority of Megaways slots. Using this system, each symbol contributing to a win dissolves after the win has been awarded to you, and new symbols fall in from above. In this case, they drop in from that extra row above the reels. The new symbols can then contribute to further wins, and the process goes on until there aren’t any new wins to be found.

Medusa can even help you out herself with Medusa’s Gaze. If her wild symbol appears on the very top reel, she’ll stare down the reel below her and turn all the standard symbols wild, after which the reels will be checked again for further wins.

The most action-packed of all the features, though, is the Free Spins round. Landing three scatter symbols at once will trigger the feature, and give you ten free spins. Each time another scatter shows up during the free spins, you get a further five spins, so if you're lucky, this will go on for a long time! A multiplier is active during your free spins, and increases the more you win. You start off with an x2 multiplier in place, but each winning combination increases that by x1, with no upper limit.

You may see a special symbol during free spins - a Greek soldier. He's there to battle the two snakes, who have appeared on each side of the top row! Whenever he appears, there will be a Snake Strike, which turns the soldier into either an extra wild, or an extra scatter.

Finally, when your free spins are over, you have a decision to make. You can either accept what you've won, or if you're not happy with it, you can select the Temptation Feature, which forfeits your winnings and repeats the round again from the start. Beware that you can only do this once, so if you end up winning less than you did the first time around, you're stuck with it!
